FOBB aims to support Parks Victoria and DSE in managing local native vegetation and in promoting retention of native vegetation throughout the region.
FOBB is a founding member and supporter of Victorian Volcanic Plains Biosphere Inc. which is promoting the formation of a Biosphere across the whole VVP Bioregion under the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program.

FOBB has an ongoing experimental project initially funded by Parks Victoria, to explore methods of restoring a former nightsoil dumping site from a weedscape of Capeweed and Blanketweed to a healthy grassy woodland.
