The Otways is home to an incredible array of bizarre & beautiful fungi.
This workshop introduces participants to the diversity & curiosities of local fungi with a focus on ecology, conservation & identification of fungal species.
It includes an interactive & illustrated seminar exploring the natural & cultural history of the major fungal groups, presenting both Australian & European perspectives.
The seminar will be followed by a hands-on identification session where participants will learn how to identify fungi. Participants are encouraged to bring along fungal specimens for this session.
After lunch we’ll visit local forests for a foray in search of fungi.
Date: Sunday 20 May 2012
Time: 10.30am – 3.30pm
Location: Forrest & District Neighbourhood House
What to bring: lunch, wet weather gear if necessary, a magnifier or fungi field guide if you have one.
Cost: $55. A simple catered lunch is available for an additional $5.
